ContiTech Honored in China

April 2011Successful start in Changshu: The ContiTech location in China obtained no fewer than three awards for fiscal 2010.

One year after the opening of the new heart of production in Changshu, success there has far exceeded all expectations. The industrial park where the plant is located, the "Changshu Southeast Economic Development Zone“, has now cited the company for its outstanding business development with no fewer than three awards. “Things are moving along very nicely for us – thanks, too, to the strong economic boom in China,” said Torsten Laufer, general manager at ContiTech China Rubber & Plastics Technology Ltd., at the awards ceremony. Among the awards he accepted was one citing the company’s exemplary commitment to environmental protection. ContiTech technologies make cars eco-friendlier and, at the same time, more comfortable. They make it possible for automakers to hold to the increasingly stringent environmental protection standards. In Changshu the company produces, among other things, lightweight polyamide components.

Lifan Zhu, the deputy mayor of the City of Changshu, and Fei Chen, the deputy general manager of the Changshu Southeast Economic Development Zone, presented the citations. Honors for business development also went to Continental Automotive Systems, which, like ContiTech, is also present in Changshu.
