ContiTech AG

June 2011 Journalists attending a meeting of the press at ContiTech’s Plant in Changshu were eager to hear about ContiTech’s eco-friendly products and innovative power.

Eco-friendly products and the innovative power of ContiTech were focal topics at a meeting of the press in Changshu at the beginning of June. The media representatives from car, machine technology and railway engineering magazines showed great interest in the sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions supplied by the high-technology organization which has been active in China for over 30 years. “We create sustainable values – economically, ecologically, and for society as a whole – and we rank among the most preferred technology partners on an international scale”, underlined Heinz-Gerhard Wente, CEO of ContiTech AG, during his presentation of the organization’s activities. The innovations were presented by five heads of ContiTech’s seven business units. Many of the questions raised by the journalists dealt with projects for the efficient use of renewable energies, like the FLEXSAVE DUO flexible solar tank, products contributing to lightweight construction, and new eco-friendly materials.

Dr. Dirk Leiß, CEO of Benecke-Kaliko, presented safe and eco-friendly materials for automobile interiors under the company’s new Designed Green label. The Acella® Eco product family is a prime example of such products, for they are particularly kind to the skin and, moreover, low in emissions. Up to 50% of the latest development Acella® Eco Natural is based on renewable raw materials.

ContiTech Vibration Control supports manufacturers in the development of lighter vehicles that are also low in emissions. Kai Frühauf, head of the business unit, demonstrated ultra-strong engine mounts and structural components made of polyamide that weigh up to 50% less than conventional aluminum engine mounts.

Konrad Müller brought some eco-friendly drive belts with him. The head of the ContiTech Power Transmission Group presented CONTI® SYNCHROBELT PIONEER, a new generation of rubber timing belts for industrial applications. These belts contain no carbon black and are free of allergens.

Hannes Friederichsen, head of the ContiTech Fluid Technology business unit, displayed products to increase the efficiency of air-conditioning systems, as well as hose lines for selective catalytic reduction (SCR), a technology that transforms harmful nitrogen oxide (Nox) into steam and nitrogen with the help of a urea solution (AdBlue).

Passenger trains travel more safely – even at high speeds – with suspension systems from ContiTech Air Spring Systems. Michael Bott, general manager of ContiTech Air Spring Systems in China, explained how air springs are used in the Chinese railway industry, including the various generations of the CRH. This business unit also supplies air springs to the Chinese commercial vehicle industry.
